Attend this introductory class to develop a solid understanding of what occupational therapy is, how it will benefit your child and how to get connected with an occupational therapist near you. Explore tools commonly used in therapy to further enhance your knowledge base. After attending this course, you will be able to confidently describe what Occupational Therapists do and determine if your child would benefit from occupational therapy.
Our instructor, Katie Joyce earned a B.S. in biology from the University of Georgia and a M.S. in occupational therapy from Brenau University. She started her OT career at Kidsplay Therapy Center in Loganville, Georgia, in August of 2008 and has remained there ever since. Katie’s experience includes working in public and private schools for children with special needs, adult mental health, and outpatient pediatrics. She has utilized aquatic and hippotherapies, trauma-informed therapy, Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) feeding approach, and sensory integration therapy. Katie has the privilege to work with children with a variety of challenges, including sensory processing disorder, developmental delays, trauma-induced delays, learning difficulties, ADD/ADHD, anxiety disorders, and spectrum disorders.
