Description:
Saturday, February 8th, 2020
Time: 10:00am-12:00pm
Location: Griffin First Assembly of God Church
Topic: The Court System with Judge Ott
Speaker: Judge Stephen Ott
Judge Ott will use his extensive experience in the Juvenile Court system to explain commonly used legal terms, the rights of foster children, the rights of birth parents, and a typical path through the court system for a DFCS case. There will also be time towards the end of the session for a Q&A, so if you still have more questions you will be able to ask them. This is going to be a very informative and helpful CEU for all foster families!
Judge Ott’s resume includes being a SAAG (DFCS Attorney) for approximately 6 years, 10 years of experience as a Guardian Ad Litem (children’s lawyer) in Juvenile and Superior Court, being a Municipal Court Judge in Peachtree City for 12 years, and currently is serving as a full-time Juvenile Court Judge in the Griffin Judicial Circuit for the past year and a half. As Judge he presides over four counties – Fayette, Pike, Spalding, and Upson.
Childcare provided with RSVP – We will have a bouncy house and snacks for the kids while we learn more about the court system from Judge Ott.
CEU & brunch for foster parents will begin promptly at 10:00am.
Brunch will be provided for adults attending class only.
